China is the country of chopstick culture, and Fuzhou is the birthplace of Chinese chopsticks.

Zhang Guotian, chairman of Fuzhou Cangshan Tiantian Chopsticks Factory, was born in Qi'an Village, Gaishan Town, Cangshan District, Fuzhou City, known as the "Chopsticks Village". After graduating from high school, he joined the Chopsticks Factory, working from worker to factory manager.

"Chopsticks are part of Chinese culture." Zhang Guotian said that a pair of chopsticks should be made into culture.

In the 1980s, in order to make the chopsticks factory continue to develop, he contracted the factory to innovate and improve the traditional low-end lacquered chopsticks, and develop and produce environmentally friendly chopsticks. After testing, all indicators of the chopsticks produced by the factory meet the requirements of environmental protection, and are favored by the Japanese and Taiwan markets.

In 1994, he registered and established Fuzhou Cangshan Tiantian Chopsticks Factory. The chopsticks produced by the company continue to enter the international market, and the factory has also become a fixed chopstick importer of Japan's Daiso Co., Ltd.

In recent years, the Tiantian Chopsticks Factory he runs has accelerated research and development, innovated in patterns, colors, styles, shapes, designs, etc., and successively produced hundreds of brands of bamboo chopsticks, such as Chinese chopsticks, traditional chopsticks, cultural chopsticks, gift chopsticks, sanitary and convenient chopsticks, etc. There are more than 500 kinds of chopsticks, and the annual output of chopsticks is about 50 million pairs. The products are exported to Japan, South Korea and other countries and Taiwan.

In 2008, the culture of chopsticks was listed as a provincial-level intangible cultural heritage in Fujian, and Zhang Guotian became the first batch of provincial-level representative inheritors of the lacquer chopsticks production process of the intangible cultural heritage project in Fujian Province. He is committed to promoting the culture of chopsticks, injecting many modern elements and fresh ideas into Fuzhou lacquer chopsticks.

Today, the products of Tiantian Chopsticks Factory have gradually developed from simple paint chopsticks to "cultural chopsticks" with Chinese cultural symbols. Zhang Guotian said that the culture of Chinese lacquer chopsticks should be shown to the world.

To this end, he built a chopsticks culture showroom with an area of ​​hundreds of square meters, displaying more than 2,000 kinds of chopsticks and supporting items produced and collected by the factory since the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.

In the showroom, there are all kinds of craft chopsticks, traditional chopsticks, and classical chopsticks. The chopsticks of different colors are exquisite and unique, and they are also skillfully depicted with patterns such as Peking Opera masks, peonies, orchids, and green bamboos, as well as some historical allusions. These chopsticks are not only chopsticks for dining, but also works of art.

At present, Zhang Guotian is advocating the upgrading of chopsticks culture, and is carefully preparing to build a unique museum of lacquer chopsticks culture in China. Promoting Chinese chopstick culture has become his ultimate goal.
